The New York Times
For the past month or so I've been hired to animate title sequences for "The New York Times on NYC life"! It's basically NYtimes' web video segments mashed into a 30 minute show that premieres Jan 10, 2011 at 8:30 PM on channel 25.
These are some design/animation tests I made that aren't going to be used so I thought I'd showcase them here:
The design we went for looks nothing like this and we're actually reaching our deadline soon. Pretty exciting!

Speaking at Pratt Institute
Well well, looks like I'll be speaking at my own college! Joanne Chang, president of Keyframe Animation Club at Pratt invited me to speak and after a few reschedules we've finally picked a date: Dec 1st (7pm - 8pm).
The meeting will also include a short screening of her senior thesis on which a few current Pratt undergrads worked with her a bit (including me, Joanne! :D ).
Here's a Q&A article with her about her senior thesis:

LOCATION:
Pratt Institute ARC Building Room E-2 (until further notice)
See you all there! "
Here's some advertisement written by Joanne herself:
" This is a great opportunity for traditional animation majors (and anyone interested in the field) to learn a bit about the 2D animation business. Jane is a young accomplished animator who studied at Pratt Institute and began working for multiple employers straight out of school. Plus, she's awesome.

New Projects
It's crazy how so many projects picked up in just one month. For starters, here's a Public Service Announcement animation I did for NYC tv for the new voting system that's now being aired for the coming election:
I animated this piece under Roland LeBreton, with graphics handed to us by the NYC board of elections.
On another note, I've started motion graphics work for Pratt LEGENDS 2010. It's a fundraising event for Pratt student scholarships that'll take place Oct 20th. It also honors icons of art and design such as Tommy Hilfiger, Elsworth Kelly and a bunch of Pratt Alumni.

I'm having a lot of fun with this one since I get to storyboard, design and animate the whole piece!
A preliminary animation with a dummy image of Paul Rudd:
And the LEGENDS title animated:
As for comic-related things... Yes, I've realized I haven't drawn much with all the mo-graph work so I decided to get back into Golden Host, an ongoing manga with my writer and long time friend, Jen Tai.

Fakeheads and Static Fish are also on its way... more news when time comes.
And here is a bird.

Updating website
After working on my website religiously for a good 4 days re-familiarizing myself with Flash and action scripting, I completely tossed it all out. I had been debating whether to use a fancy flash website or not for a long time now (possibly a couple of months). And after being convinced by my old friend I've fully switched over because of two main reasons: 1. takes too much time to update and 2. flash doesn't work on mobile devices or the ipad. Yea, I gave in. :[
Anyway, you can take a look and check it out: janeimagines.com
